Any idea of an alpha/beta release date, or alternatively how far along you are with the project? Its hard to tell from screenshots whether you’re 10% of the way there, 50% of the way there etc…
It’s very hard to estimate when our first alpha/beta release date will be. I promise we will release fairly early on, but right now not enough is implemented. Alot of the code that is being written or has been written is structural code that will allow us to fill in the bits and pieces very quickly. So a release date is a good ways off, and the source code will be available before a release but not quite yet.
It’s amazing, right now we have about 10,000 lines of code and the app really does not do that much, and that’s not even including the IMAP library we are using! E-mail clients are significantly more complex than all of us expected, or maybe we are just doing something wrong
Haha, no rush! Just keep doing what you’re doing. In the meantime, I’ve gone from Mail.app, to Thunderbird, to Entourage (currently sticking with Entourage).
If only Mail.app would allow me to subscribe/unsubscribe from folders instead of trying to download every goddamn message maybe it wouldn’t suck so much.
Thunderbird is simply horrible, searching is nigh on impossible, I was unable to cope.
Entourage seems ok, currently! A few bugs, but nothing show stopping.
Thunderbird is problematic, but Entourage alays seems to choke on some message. The only reason why I would consider Entourage is the project/mail combo, that you can automatically link mail to a particular project (as I’ve just discovered). Tht could be practical.
Daylite does that with Mail, but Mail’s updates have created a mess often enough to be wary of the app (suddenly hundreds of my messages were flagged - the one way I keep track of urgent messages was spoiled).
So PowerMail io my default, but that client is horrendous wirh IMAP and Unicode. (And would not integrate with a PIM either).
All this leads to one question: will there be applescript support?

Yea, I was about to ask the same thing. How long till we see some source?

Best of luck with your project and hope to see the beta version soon. Getting a perfect IMAP client for Mac has been really frustrating.
Looking forward to a beta/alpha release…
